Welcome to St James
We are an Evangelical Anglican Church meeting in the Uplands part of the city of Swansea and committed to putting Christ at the heart of all we do. Whether you are working, studying or living in Swansea, we’d love you to come and join us.
By God's grace and through His Spirit we are looking to build up the Church with a view to reaching out to this part of the City of Swansea. Our heart is to see people come to a living, vibrant faith in Jesus.
These are early days but we would want to encourage anyone who believes that God has unfinished business with the Anglican Church to come and join us. We are very much a work in progress and the PCC are currently putting together a vision document that will take the church up to its 150th anniversary in 2017. It is an exciting time for us and a challenging time for the Church in Wales. But we believe in the promise of Jesus who said: "I will build my church and the gates of hell will not overcome it." (Matthew 16:18)
So why not come and work with us in realising our calling as the people of God in this part of Swansea.

BASIC CHRISTIANITY COURSES
What are they?
They are an 11 week introductory course on the basics of the Christian Faith based on a best selling book written by the late John Stott, former Rector Emeritus of All Souls Langham Place Anglican Church in London. The late John Stott had an international Christian Ministry and was once described by Time Magazine as one of the world's most influential Christians.
What do they involve?
Each week covers a different topic, outlined in the book, and involves some teaching by the group leader with the opportunity for questions and discussion.
How long does each session last?
Normally between an hour and an hour and a half.
Do I need to buy the book?
The book is not essential to each session but it may be helpful to get a fuller picture of each of the topics discussed. The book costs £4 and is available through the Church.
What else do I need?
It may be an idea to bring a Bible and notebook but there are Bibles available if you don't have one.
Is any Biblical or theological knowledge needed for me to take part?
No. Only an openness to seek God and a willingness to learn. The course is based on the assumption that there is a God just as a politics course assumes that there such things as political theory. But apart from that we hope that people will feel free to question everything. After all that's how you learn and grow.
When are the groups meeting and where?
There are two groups in the Parish. One has already started and we have covered the introduction but it's not too late to join. It meets in the Parish Centre next to St. James' Church and begins at 7.30pm.
The other group is about to start and meets in the same place only on a Friday morning at 10.00 am. The first session takes place on April 25th 2013. Please contact the Vicar asap to let him know if you are coming. The contact details are: email: stjamesuplands1@googlemail.com or the Vicarage phone number: (01792) 470532
Who can attend?
Anyone interested in learning about the basics of the Christian Faith.
